The impact turbine can be divided into two types according to the flow direction of the water flow (also known as the water bucket type) and the oblique type. The structure of the slanting turbine is basically the same as that of the puddle turbine, except that the direction of the jet has an inclination angle and is used only for small units.

Theoretical analysis proves that the efficiency is highest when the circumferential velocity at the pitch circle is about half of the jet velocity.
